The recent changes to the DSM-V removed Asperger’s as a diagnostic category. If read carefully, even the authors recognized the ill-advised nature of this change as those previously diagnosed with Asperger’s are “grandfathered” into the Autistic Disorder diagnosis. While that is all well and good, it does not solve the problem of those who have yet to be identified and who will never meet the new criteria set forth.
